Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Sporting Gijon saw plenty of records tumble as Los Blancos extended their unbeaten run in all competitions. Cristiano Ronaldo was also on the scoresheet breaking plenty of La Liga and personal records.


Madrid made a storming start to the game, with Ronaldo scoring from the spot in the 5th minute after Lucas Vazquez was fouled. The Portuguese superstar swiftly followed that up with a header from Nacho’s left-wing cross to make it 2-0 to Madrid in the 18th minute. Carmona’s 35th minute strike reduced the deficit. Gijon also missed a penalty in the second half, thus failing to earn a chance for a draw.
