Manchester City will face French side Monaco February next year in the Champions League knockout stage. Manchester City who reached the semifinals of the competition last season under manager Manuel Pellegrini, however now has a new coach - Pep Guardiola. Guardiola has won the Champions League twice as a coach with Barca, and reached the semifinals three times in succession during his time in charge at Bayern.
"It's always difficult to say whether it's a tough or easy draw. We are happy to be here. City director of football Txiki Begiristain said after the draw on Monday afternoon.
"Monaco are doing well, they have good players, good talent, young players and they are playing some of the best football in France.
"Of course the first times we came [to this stage] we played Barca. Real and Bayern Munich. It's always good news to avoid them."
