ANTONIO CONTE; Everything you need to know about the new Chelsea manager

As expected, Antonio Conte has become the man charged with delivering a stack of trophies and a eye-wateringly beautiful football. The Italy manager who took over from José Mourinho after signing three-year contract with the Blues, has been a shining light in an endless horizon of darkness after taking Chelsea FC back to the top of the English Premier League table.

Although the 46-year-old has enjoyed a distinguished career both as a player and a manager with his domestic and European successes, he is far from a household name in England. Hence, this article focuses on bringing to the lamplight all you need to know about the new Chelsea boss:

Decorated Player
Although Antonio Conte began his professional football career as a midfielder in a local club U.S Lecce, he latter served as player of Juventus for 13 trophy-laden years from 1991 - 2004.

Despite measuring a mere 5 foot 8 inches, the midfielder became renowned for his combative style of play as box-to-box enforcer. He stood out throughout his career due to his tenacity, work-rate, and leadership, captaining the team, and winning the UEFA Champions League , as well as 5 Serie A titles, among other honours. He also played for the Italian national team and was a participant at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 2000 UEFA European Championship , where on both occasions, finished runners-up.

Decorated Manager
Conte's leadership qualities and tactical intelligence on the pitch meant he was already laying his foundation as a football manager.
However, his first adventure as a coach ended in utter disappointment. He was sacked just three months after wearing the mantle of leadership at Serie B side Arezzo in 2006, due to series of poor results.

Conte took over as head coach of Juventus in 2011 with the Italian giants still reeling from the match-fixing scandal that had seen the club stripped of their Scudetto titles. His impact was felt immediately when he implemented a 3–5–2 formation which eventually led the club to a first Serie A title in eight years, finishing his first season unbeaten in the league. He also became the first Juventus coach to lead the Old Lady to a Coppa Italia triumph in 2012 since 2004.
It is also interesting to note that Conte was the man who lured Paul Pogba away from Manchester United in 2012. He is attributed with aiding the 23-year-old's development into the world's most coveted midfielder, remolding him into a box-to-box kind of midfielder just like he was [even better] during his playing days.

Antonio Conte resigned as manager in 2015 after a clash with the Juventus hierarchy over transfer policy, a feud Italian Federation President Carlo Tavecchio confirmed in an interview.
“Juve and Conte didn't have a good relationship. He has a very strong personality, and things were complicated by an economic dispute between him and the club."

Finally, he ended his managerial career at Juventus with:
-Three consecutive Serie A titles
-One supercoppa Italiana
-Three Serie A coach of the Year awards
-Three Panchina d'Oro
