Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the next Real Madrid Galactico buy?

Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their interest in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their next Galactico purchase.
The Borussia Dortmund forward has been one of Europe’s best attacking players for the last couple of seasons, and is known to be attracting interest from a number of elite clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal.

There were substantial reports claiming Arsenal failed with a record bid to sign the Gabon international last January despite tabling €90m. The chances of the Dortmund's star joining the English side has now been dented as Real Madrid are very much determined to break bank to bring him to the Spain capital.

Aubameyang has an impressive record of 98 goals in 160 appearances for Dortmund, and that kind of goalscoring prowess could make him the ideal heir to Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.

2013/14: 16 goals in 48 apps
2014/15: 25 goals in 46 apps
2015/16: 39 goals in 49 apps
2016/17: 18 goals in 17 apps

According to AS, Real Madrid are hopeful of winning the race for the 27-year-old’s signature due to his lifelong dream of playing in Spain.
Real haven’t splashed out on a true Galactico signing since James Rodriguez joined in the summer of 2014 and Aubameyang would be an exciting latest addition to that list of "first class" players to make a move to Madrid.
